Dave DeGroot Visit YBK 2008

Saturday, October 4th was YBK’s Day with Dave De Groot. In the morning demonstration, Dave was presented with a choice of two Procumbens junipers to style. He sketched his styling options for each tree, explaining his steps in evaluating, and the pros and cons in making a deci-sion. He then spent the remain-ing morning, styling, telling stories and sharing tech-niques as he created a slanting style tree. The winner of the raffled tree was JD Stoddard.

At the afternoon work-shop, five club members had their own trees ana-lyzed by Dave. In each case Dave suggested styl-ing modifications and returned after some time to see how we had pro-gressed. He then added more styling advice and now, each of our trees should be good for the future.
